/ Why BESS
As more and more low-cost intermittent renewable sources of energy, like solar PV and wind, are added to our electricity system to help reduce emissions, the grid needs energy storage capacity. This helps to provide stability and to keep the lights on even when wind and solar are unable to generate electricity.
Grid-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) are currently the most efficient and cost-effective form of energy storage. They provide the firming capacity to store renewable energy at times of peak generation and dispatch to the grid when homes and businesses need it. Valent Energy is one of Australia’s largest independent developers of BESS projects and is enabling the energy transition.
