/ About us

Valent Energy is an investor, developer and operator of grid scale battery energy storage systems (BESS), with seven projects in our current pipeline. We will invest and arrange over A$2 billion to develop and complete these projects.

These BESS projects will support the rollout of intermittent renewable energy generators such as solar and wind farms, helping to power homes and businesses across Australia, and enabling Australia’s energy transition.

Valent Energy is a joint venture between private equity firm Gaw Capital and BW ESS, a leading global investor in the energy storage sector, part of BW Group.

As more and more low-cost intermittent renewable sources of energy, like solar PV and wind, are added to our electricity system to help reduce emissions, the grid needs energy storage capacity. This helps to provide stability and to keep the lights on even when wind and solar are unable to generate electricity.

Grid-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) are currently the most efficient and cost-effective form of energy storage. They provide the firming capacity to store renewable energy at times of peak generation and dispatch to the grid when homes and businesses need it.  Valent Energy is one of Australia’s largest independent developers of BESS projects and is enabling the energy transition.
